About the Test
The purpose of the placement test is to assist us in determining your best course placement. The placement test measures entry-level skills in the areas of reading, writing, and mathematics. This is test is not an admissions test that can be passed or failed; it is simply a tool used to determine how to best help prepare you for college level math and English classes.
Who needs to take the ACCUPLACER Placement Test?
If you are a new student seeking a degree and you have not completed more than 30 hours of college coursework or you do not have current admissions test scores (ACT, SAT, etc.), you must take the ACCUPLACER Placement Test. The test MUST be taken prior to registering for classes.

In other words, this test will increase your likelihood of success in English and math by placing you in the English and math courses that are recommended based on your level of performance as measured by the Accuplacer.
You cannot “pass” or “fail” this placement test, but it is very important that you do your very best on each subtest so that you will have an accurate measure of your academic skills.
